Solvang is a small Danish community located in the hills of Santa Barbara County's wine country. The Royal Copenhagen Inn is located in the heart of Solvang, California. The Inn is designed to resemble a quaint Danish Village. The Danish community embraces their heritage and architecture which is a vast contrast to the love of Santa Barbara's Spanish architecture. The picturesque town is filled with Danish bakeries, shops, and outdoor cafés. It is no surprise that Solvang was voted one of Sunset Magazine's 10 most beautiful small towns in the Western United States.

The cost is $295.00 double occupancy and $325 single occupancy. The price includes lodging, two classes, meals, and surprise goodies.

The meals provided include an afternoon welcome tea, followed by dinner on Friday. For breakfast on Saturday, a continental breakfast of Danish pastries, and fruit. To honor the cuisine of the community, a buffet lunch of traditional Danish food will be served. On Saturday evening, a Santa Maria Style BBQ will be held outside the crop room at the pool. On Sunday, a brunch will be served in the garden before your departure. Throughout the weekend, beverages and snacks will be provided.

On Saturday afternoon, a licensed massage therapist will pamper you with a 10 minute complimentary shoulder and neck massage to work out those kinks. Additional time with licensed massage therapist can be arranged throughout Saturday.

If you have a significant other or friend who needs a retreat but doesn't want to scrapbook, bring them along. It's no problem. For the price of a single occupancy rate and an additional charge of $100.00 for the entire weekend, your guest(s) can join us for meals on Friday and lunch and dinner on Saturday. For breakfast, complimentary coffee and Danish will be provided by Mortensen's Bakery across the street from the Inn.


Things to do in Solvang


If you are interested, complimentary wine tasting is available within walking distance. For guests with a love for vino, this is the place to visit. The region is known for its outstanding chardonnay, pinot noir, and syrah wines. There are more than 70 vineyards in Santa Barbara County, of which became the subject of the movie, "Sideways."

Are you lucky? For those who like to play the slots, bingo, or the tables, the impressive Chumash Casino is down the road about four miles from the hotel. The Chumash provides a free shuttle to the casino from Solvang.

Asilomar Conference Resort

Celebrate America's most beloved and popular craft but at the historic beach refuge of Asilomar Conference Resort on the Monterey Peninsula on June 6-8th 2008. This esteemed "refuge by the sea" is located on 107 acres of protected beachfront land, within the scenic town of Pacific Grove. Asilomar is a mix of California: Sand dunes, beach, Monterey pines, cypress and oak forests, creating a tranquil and relaxing landscape. But perhaps its most distinguishing feature is its rich history and the buildings designed by Julia Morgan. As California's first licensed female architect who assisted in the creation of Hearst Castle.

Though it will be summer, the evenings are cool along the coast. All of the Asilomar meeting rooms have fireplaces which adds to the ambience of late night scrapbooking. Asilomar meals offer a unique family style dining experience at majestic Crocker Dining Hall. After one of the five large meals, take a stroll along the beach before returning with renewed creativity to your scrapbooking.

The cost of Asilomar is $345.00 per person (double occupancy). This includes five gourmet meals, lodging, a gorgeous workshop space, beverages, snacks, scrapbag goodies, a class and a large table to work.

Weekend Retreat registration, payment options, and retreat cancellation policy

To register, please email Liann@relaxandscrapweekends.com for space availability and registration paperwork. At that time, we will discuss your payment options of a personnel check or Relax and Scrap's Paypal account.

At the time of registration, Relax and Scrap Weekends requires a $100 non-refundable fee to reserve your room and space for all weekend retreats. You may make your full payment at the time of registration or up to three weeks prior to retreat. In the event you should need to cancel 30 days or more before the event, your package will be refunded less the registration fee. Cancellations made 29 days or less before the event will be charged based on the ability to refill your spot, accounting for the difference incurred by roommates or other hotel penalty fees which may apply. We can not offer refunds for no-shows.
